The proposed title of my thesis is: A linguistic analysis of the adaption of the Scandinavian management style in the Asian business environment.

My interest in this project stems from my background in the multi-ethnical, multi-racial and thus - multi-cultural - society of the international 'melting pot' and business hub of Asia that is Singapore; a stunning difference compared to the business environment of Scandinavia.

I. Focus:

This study sets out to test two hypotheses. The first (H1) being that there is a merging of management styles between the more consensus seeking, de-centralised Scandinavian management style and the more authoritative, hierarchical, centralised Asian management style. That there is indeed a middle-ground between which the Scandinavians and Asians subconsciously or consciously work with. The second (H2) being that it is this third "merged" or "Scandinasian" style of management that makes Swedish companies successful in working in Singapore and remaining in Asia.
